I saw some fly’s that Landon Mayor had posted on Instagram. They are kind of a mini leech, so I figured I’d give them a go. I’ll fish them at a local lake tomorrow and see if the work.

I did recommend you those hooks! That's awesome. Do you like them so far?
Yup! I haven't fished the Risen hooks yet but they are sticky sharp, priced right, and the wide gape is nice in these small sizes. The silver bead is not from Risen, but the slotted beads I got from them are good quality.

Thanks again for the recommendation!

I will fish that this summer, nice pattern! Would you mind sharing your source for the orange moose body hair? Did you create this pattern?
I got the dyed Moose from an Ebay sale out of Canada—lots of different colors in the lot. Nature’s Spirit does offer dyed speckled moose which is longish hair. As for the Humpy Hopper, it is my adaptation of the Skinny Humpy technique I use for regular Humpies. When I recently acquired a very nice patch of long, thick Elk mane I thought I’d try my Humpy technique on a hopper style pattern.

Thanks. I'll pick up some orange speckled moose body hair. I've used the olive color of that material for these:

My go-to winter steelhead fly. In my opinion you cannot beat the stinger style fly versatility if tied right it’ll run hook up always.

My obsession for MOAL movement or tubes are always squished after a few personal or client snags in winter. Much negated if the hook rides up on stiff stinger wire.
