One of my favorite Basin lakes now has perch in it - I have a couple patterns I tie to sort of imitate perch fry or small perch; thanks for sharing this. The lake has some large trout that I'm sure do key into small perch from time to time. As always, very nice!/PatAn interesting pattern I came across in a book published in 1987 in Great Britain called "Bob Church's Guide to Trout Flies". It is meant to imitate ailing or dying yearling Perch and Roach in reservoirs. It is called "Injured/Ailing Fry".

Spent the past 3 weeks in the California desert hiking, birding and picking grapefruit off my mother-in-law’s tree (brought back about 400; some destined for friends, most going to the local food bank) so it’s gonna take a bit to get the hands to do what the brain requests. A few changes to the original - tied a full spun muddler head and lengthened it a bit; cross between a Streaking Caddis and a Snatcher.
hook - WFC Model 16 #6
thread - SemperFli 8/0 brown
rib - small wire golden olive
body - Ice Dub olive brown
hackle - Cree
collar/head - deer hair

Love the Xacto vise. Better than a pair of vise grips.I was supposed to be hanging out with my 89 year old dad in Vermont for the next couple weeks but my wife destroyed her back so I had to cancel.
Also unfortunately, I shipped out much of my tying gear before the injury and won't get it back until the end of the month...but Jack Devlin's panfish ties looked like fun so I searched around for a cheap or makeshift vise and found this nifty idea...
