What's in your vise?

A little different than usual (for me). From order of colors, to trout predator short 4/0 off the back of a heavy duty 50mm shank. No foam, just tightly (well, tighter than I normally do) packed bucktail, a few feathers, a touch of flash and some NMF Titan dubbing special mix for the head.

Getting ready for a "destination" trip ... OK, more like a family trip to Alabama with my Wife's Step Dad - while he can still travel comfortably. I am fitting in a day of guided striped bass fishing though.

First attempt at a "blueback herring". Craft fur, Angel Hair and epoxy.

Clear box are all tied on 2/0, 3/0 & 4/0 Ahrex Predator and Gama B10S, other than the bottom left corner which are Ahrex 2/0 swimbait with a 20 mm shank connected by #25 mono - fills the gap to just shy of the hook point, but moves out of the way easily.
Bottom box are hook and shank combinations, single hook only, some swimbait, more b10s & Ahrex clouser.

A lot of experimenting and variations of similar concepts. Looking forward to learning more about tying flies that swim by putting these in front of fish and swimming them. My boxes are open to my fishing buddy, I don’t want to be short…
A couple more evenings of tying before we’re off to Manitoba!
Looking forward to your return trip report!

First try experimenting with a Ned rig type fly. It's a changer shank for the tail with foam and some dubbing. I attached the tail by braiding rabbit cut off the strip and hydro hackle around 10lb tippet. the front is the same two materials wrapped forward. some legs, dumbbell eyes and dubbing.

I'm gonna try it tomorrow at a pond nearby. I think I should have tied it with more weight up front and more foam on the tail. If anyone has any ideas on how to tweak this I'd be happy to hear them as I plan tie more variations.
