What's in your vise?

My first attempt tying with nayat. Hoping the bass will fall for it. I'm not too disappointed.

Made a popper also. Will have to see how all the rubber legs balance out.

Well, I couldn't get the bass to stick on the fly today but I did get a couple crappie. The popper looks good and I expect it to produce when they feel more frisky on the surface.

tail - moose body hair
rib - Orvis Saltwater thread fluoro orange
body - deer hair dyed golden olive (2 Tsp Rit Golden Yellow, 1/8 Tsp Rit Fuchsia/2 cups water)
wing - Congo Hair shiner tan
1st shoulder - dyed golden olive
2nd shoulder - pheasant rump
collar/head - deer hair dyed golden olive

This high tie clouser pattern has working well lately for cutts.
2-2.5” long
Size 4 or 6 Daiichi 2546 hook
1/8 Real Eyes Plus
Gold flat diamond braid over the eye tie in area
Pearl gray palmer chenille body
Ice dub uv hot orange gills
Silver kreelex and krinkle mirror flash laser for the underwing flash
Tan over yellow over white arctic goat hair wing
Tan uv, root beer, gold and medium brown krystal flash for the over wing flash.

Pretty fly! This is probably a dumb question but why is the eye turned up rather than straight or down?
I think traditionally it was for the type of line used along with allowing a Turle knot. Which gives you the straight connection between hook shank and leader. You can also hitch off the side of a Turle to further aid how the fly rides in the water.

Interesting. I appreciate the information. Hook types are still a bit of a mystery to me.

We have selective bluegills in our neighborhood.

shellback - peacock herl
body - Ice Dub Callibaetis
hackle - brown
shoulder - partridge dyed Silver Doctor Blue (2 packs Koolaid Ice Blue Raspberry/1 cup water)
