@Kfish,

Beautiful Deer hair Pattern and work.

Can you point me to any videos or tutorials onthose back legs? Very intriguing.

Thanks in advance.

Bob
Thanks! Sorry I didn't use any YouTube vids but I'm sure it's out there maybe, this technique is called spring leaf or something like that.

What I did with mine is to cut rabbit strip in half lengthwise, take the hair off. Ready some thread knots, fold, cinch tie and glued with flex uv resin.

adding a little color. Probably adding this one to my box, but not totally sure yet. My standard single with counter balance. I didn't measure, but probably 8"

Dave’s Mistake

Steelhead

David McNeese, 1987

Tag - Silver flat tinsel
Tail - Purple hackle fibers or purple-dyed golden pheasant crest, topped with fruit crow
Rib - Silver oval tinsel
Body - Red dubbing
Hackle - Purple
Wing - White polar bear hair or bucktail
Cheeks - Jungle cock

Note: Substitutes for the rare and expensive fruit crow (aka Indian fruit crow) include white feathers from the neck of a ringneck pheasant dyed a pale tan-yellow and then tip-dyed with bright red; these are troublesome to create and require expertise in dying feathers. Much simpler is to simply use a small red feather, including those taken from a dyed-red hen’s neck.
