wing - deer hair dyed olive orange
shoulder - partridge dyed olive orange
The colors are pretty close.

Looking forward to seeing the results of your overhauled fly box! My winter goal is to restock and overhaul my trout fly box. It’s become anemic because of my obsession with swinging flies for steelhead.
Working on a box of winter stuff for my 15 year old for Christmas. I still have a bunch more to tie. He’ll be getting his first spey outfit under the tree as well.

In the up-graded fly series, just completed a salmonfly on a LaFontaine flex-hook, the naming of which continues in the musical vein as I am calling it the Bela Fleck-stone.
Also tied up a skwala imitation called Skwala Death for all you Richard & Linda Thompson fans.

I've used to fish Thunder Creek streamers for browns decades ago in NY. So, in my experimentation with substituting craft fur for bucktail here are a few I tied up yesterday. Added some yellow fur between the dark olive back and white belly. One thing to note is I used up my patch of white extra select craft fur on the first one of these and went to a very large patch I bought at a local craft store. This fur has a lot of curl to the fibers making it seem fuzzy than the extra select. In my hands a bit fussier than the extra select, but I kind of like the effect. SBS below.
Hook: Mustad 36620 (original Thunder Creek series hook, heavy wire, 6X long, ringed eye)
Thread: White Danville Flymaster Plus
Body: Silver mylar tinsel
Flash: Three strands pearl Crystal Flash double backed and trimmed length of yellow under wing
Underwing: Yellow craft fur
Top: Dark olive craft fur, reverse tied
Bottom: White craft fur, reverse tied
Fold back top and bottom with empty pen tube and tie back. creating head. Three turn whip finish. Color 2-3" of thread with red Sharpie and apply Zap-a-Gap. Make several TIGHT turns covering white thread, then cut thread. With a black Sharpie add "eyes". I finished the head with an ample amount of Hydro Coat (flexible head cement), but UV resin would be even better.
