NFR What I’m Drinking. What I’m Thinking.

Non-fishing related

Xoxo

1. This is meant to be participatory so please come and add your own thinking stuff. You can be drinking Kumbacha (ick!) , green tea or Mad dog. Especially if anyone is slight inebriated. Old Man would love that.

2. For the record, I’m drinking Kirkland Box Wine. (@Salmo_g , I always think of you when i think of box wine!)

3. I don’t buy this stuff. My husband does. My wines tend to be more on the $20+. He tells me there is no difference. So sometimes when we opened a bottle i would secretly pour him a glass from the box wine so i could keep the good stuff for myself.

4. One time he noticed. And i had to laugh. But now i can’t get away with pouring him the cheap stuff.

5. I never met Old Man. However, I feel almost as sad about his passing as i did when my 90 year old friend Chuck died. I knew Chuck for over 20 years ago when we met working out at the YMCA. For years, until Covid, i picked him up for Thursday pub days.

6. Old Man was the same age as my dad. (My dad is alive and has been in kidney failure for awhile and it’s a lot of doctor appointments, but he’s hanging in there.) Old Man dying makes me think my dad could be close.

7. Old Man reminds me a little of both Chuck and my Dad. Chuck loved attention, no matter how he got it. And he loved it most when you pitched him shit.

8. My military father didn’t put up with phony people And he taught all of us (i’m the oldest of four kids) to speak up. He would tell us “you gotta have guts’. Also like Old Man, my dad who is very sharp, speaks in double negatives. (I always think people get too caught up in correcting grammar.) And like Old Man, my dad has strong opinions and isn’t neutral on most subjects, which was ingrained in me growing up. (Makes sense i made a career working for educational unions.)

9. While I loved that OMJ was looking forward to the future and was happy that in June he was going to see his daughter, it was so sad that it didn’t happen.

10. The day i called his phone number i could feel my adrenaline kick in. I thought, oh no, what if he answers and was irritated I called? (It would not have surprised me if he was. I had no delusions that he would be happy to hear from me even though we emailed sometimes.) So when that message came on that the call could not be completed as dialed it felt like oh shit. Old Man talked about his cell phone a lot. There was no way he changed that number. @ffb had already found out enough from Facebook but hadn’t yet confirmed it.

P.S. I’ll leave it at 10, but @Wadin' Boot ….what you wrote….that was the best kind of of ‘obituary’.

Sunday night drink @ 9:00 PM is a Pinot Grigio moment.

Thinking about how Gordon Wood drastically underestimates the impact of social distinctions predicated upon wealth, especially inherited wealth.

Pfreim Hazy IPA.

Thinking that multinational corporations, especially the oil majors, are like dragons. They live indefinitely, exist primarily to gather wealth, are immensely powerful, demand we sacrifice our children's future to feed them, and may need to be slain.
If that's too political, let me know and I'll delete it. You should hear what I bit my tongue on😉

Fresh ginger root tea with a squeeze of lemon.

I'm thinking about the the most important home maintenance projects to complete before saltwater salmon season begins.

Drinking: Diet tonic water over ice with a splash of lime juice on top.

Thinking: How much better it would be with gin or vodka in it. 😃

First cup of my morning coffee. Thinking OMJ would have secretly loved to see what everyone has written about him in the other thread, but in typical OMJ fashion would have posted a comment scolding @Jojo for not tagging that thread "NFR"...... :)
haha @East Coaster …I tagged it last night after I noticed I had left it off. You can‘t see it?

Just an Aha....

Watching Skip & Shannon yell at each other and thinking, these guys get paid for this garbage?
