What are you watching?

I recently watched a couple of really good horror movies (‘tis the season). I prefer the more cerebral smart films to the slasher/monster/jump scare types. Both of these were well written, acted, and directed.

The Mountain Men series on History Channel.

Makes me appreciate I am not living that life style.

So…generally speaking, I'm not a big fan of animated films, but this one was exceptional …Watchmen: Chapter 1. It is based on an alternate reality in 1985…fyi, its not for kids

I thought Death By Lightning on netflix was pretty well done.

I went and checked out Predator: Badlands on Saturday. I'd give it a 7.5/10. Cool story. Great visuals. Tons of action. A little hokey in a couple spots, but otherwise cool film. Worth seeing in the theater.

I just rewatched Alien Covenant directed by Ridley Scott...one of the best sci-fi films ever made imo...

Finally caught Don't Look Up... great satire, right up there with Idiocracy... hell, in a sense, DLU could be a prequel to Idiocracy 1762823689411.gif

After watching Geoffrey Ward & Ken Burns’ The American Revolution last week, which was excellent BTW, I decided to upgrade my PBS account and bite the bullet $$ wise, just because. There is so much excellent content available from the archives that I figured I couldn’t go wrong with anything by Ward and Burns.
First up was the four part series “Hemingway” which was a great take on the noted author’s life, family, adventures, and tragic take on humanity. The mental illness that ran through his family, which in the end, brought about his downfall is front and center, along with multiple brain injuries and alcohol abuse. There were no worts left uncovered. Excellent five hours of viewing. Next up: Jazz.

One Battle After Another...most interesting movie of the year for me...worth the money...

Just rented One Battle After Another ($10 on streaming now) and watched with the fam. It was great! 10 out of 10, highly recommend!

Based on the Pynchon book Vineland.
