John Kay’s 81st Birthday

Happy birthday John. I am one of those 70 something yr olds that count Steppenwolf as my first favorite band. I heard Steppenwolf “Born to be Wild” on a portland Oregon AM radio station for the first time. My brother and I were in the back seat of our family 57 Ford on a trip to Reno Nev. “mom turn up the radio” which she did and liked it too. Mom would remember and she just turned 99. Happy Birthday! I have multiple early vinyl copies of Forgotten Songs and Unsung Heroes. Because it is in my musical throne of favorite

I really thought so too. Hers and Lisa's sets were outstanding last night. Looking forward to Jennie Kim tomorrow night.

Plus interesting who actually wrote it. I have yet to run across a version I don't like. This one is brilliant.
