What are you listening to?

A lot of great music here - one thing I notice, though: Most of it is OLD, 30-years old or more. Not all, but most. It's a sad commentary that rock and roll is no longer the popular music it used to be. It'll eventually be like bluegrass or gypsy jazz - listened to by a few.

Here is a cool Japanese band I just found, Sakuran Zensen:

Those guys are nuts

The late great Tony Mcphee was scared sheetless of flying. He and band flew to Texas once to play, he never came back to the US …here is a tune about his unreasonable fear …and wanting to return home. Stick with it to hear the guitar licks in the last third of this song from a great album.

Which version is better?

Tough to compare, Lou Reed was groundbreaking, original "punk". Margo Timmons voice transforms the song into something truly haunting. Personally, I prefer the Cowboy Junkies, as it's a little easier on my old ears, but that in no way suggests it's "better".

Thanks for posting!!

Edit: fix "Your Reed" to "Lou Reed" - that damn spalling thang - cheers

I did not appreciate the majority of unk anything until long past myself being at all punkish, so I would agree with your sentiment. Started collecting Lou in my 40’s

Interesting ...

I kinda like it. It's going to piss off a lot of Floyd fans as well as the religious community with it's message about God. Kinda hard to argue with that last line tough.

I'm a big Pink Floyd fan. This is not a simple cover, but a reinterpretation with diiferent and powerful lyrics. They did a good job with it. No, it will nerver top the original, but David Gilmour played guitar on the studio version. To bad he didn't perform on this Tonight Show clip.

I like songs that clearly tell stories, and this one did that.
