Saw them in Portland Oregon in 1973 I think though have tried to confirm the old Paramount concert before. Argent data is tough to find for concert data locally and apparently so is my memory. Never been into momentos so I don’t have 50+ tickets I saved from way back when like my friend Jim Lockhart( was Joe from Chicago here for a while)

Back at Berkeley in 1970 I picked up a copy of the Berkeley Bard, with its usual "interesting" picture on the cover, and a interview with Jerry Garcia. It took a couple of seconds to realize that the cover was a photograph of "coitus" using a chair.

Ah Berkeley in the early 1970's I do miss it and why did I fail to recognize that in the immortal words of Ian Tyson "Get it down, before it is gone"?

They asked Garcia who his was listening at the time. Dolly Parton was the answer.

I remembered my parents like watching the Porter Wagner show. I was always curious about that since they didn't speak English. But I went out and bought a Dolly Parton album.

And having Mama Tried on their albums allowed me to introduce my Berkeley friends to the harder stuff like Merle, Bob Wills and David Allen Coe.
