I caught him at a Northern California county fair in the 80’s with Norton Buffalo on harmonica. A great performance and happy memory.

I played in "hobby" big bands for about 15 years. A couple were mixed-age community bands and one was a community college band where the director was a friend who was my son's private 'bone instructor and he couldn't find a student to play guitar. Since rhythm guitar is such an integral part for big band time and groove he asked if I would help out as a "ringer" until they could find someone to hold down the chair. It turned into a 4 year stint with my son going through the program where he held 1st chair for 2 years. I really enjoyed playing with the kids at local performances and festivals. Some of them were mighty fine players. The 1st 'bone player prior to my son was accepted into the Marine Corps Band. Anyway this video was a nice look back to those years.
