Western Security Gun Safe Issue

So a guy from Milwaukie OR reached out to me with an issue with his Western Security safe. Seems he inherited it from his dad, but he couldn't open the thing. I walked him through the process over the phone, but no luck. Both he and his wife tried it. I was very specific and I believe they were doing it correctly. Maybe the combo had been changed at some point and not recorded. The numbers surprised me, as the first and third numbers of the combo are the same.

So the question, anyone know a locksmith in/near Milwaukie who could help? Western Security went out of business years ago.

If the guy is willing to sacrifice the safe the side walls and floor are rarely thick. You can buz cut them with a harbor freight disc grinder or die grinder with a carborundum disc. That would be under 100 bucks and completely private. I would cut a square in the floor.

Id go roof in hopes not to damage any goods inside. Plus most safes have a shelf up top which will also provide some buffer.

Wear eye protection or a full face shield. Seen a cutoff blade explode into a guys cheek.

Our Browning safe held during a break in when we were gone. They busted the handle and lock to no avail. Everett Lock and Key opened the safe and replaced everything with touch key pad. Very reasonable, don’t ruin a good safe.

Sometimes, with notarized documentation that you're the lawful inheritor of an estate, the mfg will provide a 'backdoor' access code enabling you to open the gun safe.

Yep, as long as you bring the Time Machine to take up back a decade to when they were still in business.

back in the day bought a 'as is' house and after clearing it out discovered a heavy duty dial lock floor safe embedded in concrete in a closet. Being pre internet, called a yellow pages listed safe specialist locksmith...took him half an hour to open it and recode it. He had a 'phonebook' with him of safe models and their default codes...so why not try that route before getting out the side grinder.
As to the contents of the safe...will just say it was surprising

My brother in law passed away suddenly at a pretty young age, the gun safes combos were not available. Had a locksmith come in that did safes, and they were able to open all of them without damage to the safes.
This isn't the first time an old safe needs opening, guessing any locksmith that does safes will be able to do it for a cost.

wow! Scary that a smith can get in there in 30mins without destruction. Nothing is safe!

I heard a johnson can get it done in 30 seconds, and sometimes never waking the wife.
