Went shopping

I just couldn't bring myself to spend 900 bucks.
I hear ya'. Last summer, before the current inflation it was $845 at MRFF in Ennis. I'm still kinda' surprised I did it, but I wanted a 6 wt with a certain action and feel, and the Scott has it. I charged it on MasterCard and had all week to figure out how to tell Mrs. Salmo about it when I got home.

Thanks Rob. Your input is valued in my opinion even if I have given you a hard time before. I’m in line with you on these observations. So many rods and so many choices out there …. I still kinda have that
thought to stay ahead you need to look back. I’m happy with RPL and XP’s even though I have some newer rods. In MHO I don’t find new rods 5-600$ better than 3 -4 generations before.

6 weights can be tricky.. lots of them are just broomstick, which is fine I suppose for predator and saltwater fishing I just wanted the heavier line for turning over big bushy dries but still feel very trouty.

Great rod is a great rod.. time doesn’t change that. Rod technology is changing I suppose. But we aren't seeing giant leaps and bounds..

Congrats on your new rod! Scott rods are really well made. I'm hope you catch many fish on it and really enjoy fishing with it.

I can’t find the Flex in Scott’s home page, is it discontinued? its on Trident’s page as out of stock so I’m thinking it’s been replaced. Interesting that they show it as a “fast” action.
I have an older 2-piece G in 6 weight, 9’-6”. All around favorite rod. Grandson drove the car over it in Alaska when it was in the metal tube, kinked the tube but the rod was unscathed. Later in the same trip it was yanked overboard along with a Winston when I was rowing and trolling on a Kamloops lake. Managed to grab it by the top 12” that was vertical and sinking while the oars came out of the shitty, unpinned oarlocks. Good karma on that rod.
