We made it.

Yesterday was a soaker. Today, for the most part, was spectacular.

Streamer bite was insane good. Many days we might scratch out one or two. Today I probably landed 20. Put the nymphs away. So much fun when they are eating the big stuff. I'm not sure it even mattered what pattern or color...they were on it.

River is still unusually high and no signs of salmon flies yet. Nymph bite however was solid nymph bite yesterday on stone fly nymphs and caddis larvae/pupa. Weather was also pretty darn nice.

I didn't stick any hogs but this guy managed to find a good one.

Long day on the water. Got back to camp, made some dinner, and enjoyed a fine evening.

Back at it today.
 
Still no big bugs but pretty darn good trout fishing yesterday. Besides a few on the streamer, we were gettin' em on stone fly nymphs. People will often tell you that fishing before or even after the hatch can be much more productive. We might be seeing that right now.

@_WW_ got fish of the day and I was stoked for him. Love seeing my friends get a good one and he's now playing with house money.

Today is going to be beautiful. The Washington boys are going to poke around up high, I'm meeting up with some friends from Bozeman to hit the lower river. She continues to drop and I plan on being there when it happens.
 
Bite slowed a bit today but we did get into fish. Salmo lost a nice one as it jumped into some willows, onto WW’s line, and broke off . Oh well, the fish get to win every once and a while.

Did start to see a few of these although we got no action on top. Tomorrow could be interesting.

Seeing a few bugs but dry fly fishing has been slow so far. Yesterday I did get my first fish on a salmon fly but that's been it.

Today the forecast called for crazy high winds in the afternoon so I got out early for a float/wade sesh. A plug of mud was moving through from a big storm yesterday so viz was less than a foot and my fishing was slow. It had cleared right about the time I was taking off.

We are back at it tomorrow for a long one.

Keep the hatch stalled low till late next week please.
 
After posting up for a couple of weeks, starting to wrap up this year's trip. Weather has been iffy and the hatch is weird. I've seen salmon flies all up and down the river which is odd.

Yesterday we got out for an afternoon float. Decent bite. Fish of the sesh was a 19" rainbow. No hawgs.

Got up this morning for dawn patrol as forecast called for severe thunderstorms this afternoon. I know time is running out so it is almost like every cast counts. Bite got going as soon as you could see your fly and I had two big ones on the line. Unfortunately both got off before I could get in the net which was really frustrating. Still a beautiful way to start the day.

Getting nailed right now with a thunderstorm. Some good size hail as well. Gonna let this clear out and hopefully get into an evening bite/wade sesh.

After 13 days I'm probably out of here tomorrow. But I'm not even close to ready to leave.
 
After two weeks of living in paradise, it was time to break down camp. I wasn't even close to being over it so decided to get out for one last wade session. We had crazy thunderstorms last night but the morning was damn near perfect.

I worked up the bank with a Water Walker. I hooked two really nice fish but the streak of getting spit continued. All I could do was laugh...and keep casting.

But towards the end of the session, I did manage to get a decent one in the net. Although nowhere near as big as some of the others from this trip that I lost (including the two others this morning) it was a nice consolation and good way to end a solid trip.

Catching these fish on a big dry is pretty cool. I'm already missing it.
