Weird two tone carp

Not sure if this is as rare or unique as I think, but thought it was kinda cool as I've never seen one like it. One of the carp I got today had a front half that was colored a bit differently from the back half.

Anyone ever seen that?

Not sure I've ever seen one quite like that. I've seen plenty that had much darker color on their back and head, like a regular carp tan line, but not like that.

I wonder if that one has a favorite weed clump to hide his head under while the rest of him is exposed?
Pretty common to see them sunning with their head in the shade.

Or it's someone's lab-grafted fish. 😁

used to catch mirror variants but nothing like that, not sure if I would have noticed, fascinating though. Carp vitiligo?

I liked Boot's idea with vitiligo (had to look it up). I've seen countless carp over the years "sun bathing" - suspended at various depths of the waters I fish. It's hard for me to think that's a "tan line" - I've never seen a two-tone carp.

Speaking of tan lines............

In 2011 I landed a Brookie in a backcountry lake with similar light-dark pigmentation line along its flanks and back. This blurry screenshot is from a video clip I took.

I'm thinking of heading out this weekend, too.
