WDFW Derby Prize Lakes

I updated my WDFW fishing app and noticed all the lakes designated as having derby prize tagged fish. Of course, most of the derby lakes are not my first choice for fishing. Still, anyone given the derby scene a shot?

I fished one early in the season, and I caught a bunch of fish, but no derby fish.

I've, unintentionally fished some Oly area derby lakes. Plenty of fish but alas, no winners..

I fish two of the derby lakes in the spring. Like @Bambooflyguy some days I catch 50+, hauling 'em in two at a time, and I've never seen a tag.

Years ago I did catch a tagged trout…..visions of a free Alaskan trip went through my mind….only to find out it was worth $20 at a sporting goods store way the heck up north….not worth my time or gas.

i once caught a springer in the cowlitz with a coded wire tag that ended up paying me $75. in the monthly drawing. Does that count?

I caught a Tagged fish out of my lake. I removed the little metal tab out of his cheek and I don't know what happened to it.
It was a really nice sized fish for my lake.
