NFR Washed car vs birds…🤬

Non-fishing related
Birds love clean cars. Beware of parking under power lines, don’t make it easy for them.

I hate when that happens. I try and control my water waste but if my cars get straffed by birds I'm washing. If I ever really get into hunting, it will be for birds.

I once had a coworker that wasn’t well liked that parked under the power lines near one of the picnic tables we had for lunch. Guys would toss tiny bits of food next to his truck which would attract crows that would sit above his truck on the lines waiting for us to go back inside. It was a chuckle as they decorated his rig.

I don't like bird droppings on my cars or truck (or house siding) either but hey! I've watched robins (the great house bombers) stalk grasshoppers so I tolerate bird guano. I do try to control Oregon grape and this other (red choke cherry?) as those two plants do two things: give birds the sh--s and their sh-- is brightly colored. ;-)

Crows and ravens are spooky smart. I read somewhere they can recognize individual people, and even hold grudges.

Ravens will also mimic other sounds they hear. We were in West Yellowstone years ago and heard a Raven mimicking a turkey.

Another occasion we were in Bryce Canyon at the end of the road, and in the canyon we heard what sounded like the car bleeping when it was being locked by the remote key fob.

Yeah Ravens have my respect.

Northern Flicker birds apparently hate my neighbors house as they continually peck holes in his siding every spring. The Peppermint Oil I spray keeps them off ours...but here's the thing, as a courtesy I've sprayed his siding as well and they just kept pecking holes. When he had his place re-stained last year, the painters filled the holes...and the birds returned this spring and pecked out the repairs.

I say the worst offenders are:

1. Gulls
2. Crows
3. Flocks of Cedar Waxwings when your vehicle is parked beneath their initial flight path.

mid 80's, a buddy and I were on a 4 day back-packing trip through the Warner Mtns, walking alongside a creek when suddenly an enormous bald eagle started strafing us, on the first past getting way too close to my buddy's head with huge outstretched claws.
We threw ourselves down while the eagle banked and made another pass...trying to spot it I realize we're literally under a tree with an enormous nest on the top of it...we beat feet, hitting the ground between strafing runs until we were far away enough the eagle was satisfied to returned to it's nest.

Grackles... In San Antonio they are a huge nuisance. Some places in the city 1000's of them. Downtown has an animal control crew (or, used to) that used shotgun blanks to make them move. Only problem was, when the shot went off, and the birds lifted, the streets below turned white. 😲

It might be a good idea for your neighbor to get a pest inspection. The flickers are probably after something making the siding home.

Don't wash your vehicle. Birds fo not poop on dirty vehicles.
