Warranty-replaced Fishpond Sling Question

Hi folks,

I have an older fishpond sling where the barrier between the waterproof section and the non-waterproof pocket has failed. The welding in particular. The Tizip is still good but now water could hypothetically enter thru the non-waterproof zipper.

Fishpond was very cool and has already sent a replacement.

My question is what to do with the faulty bag. Try to glue the failed section? Gift to a beginner or someone who will use it? Give it to goodwill? Toss it?

I should add that as a requirement for warranty I defaced the shit out of it with sharpie.

Curious folks’ thoughts.

Over the years I've had 2 pairs of wading boots replaced. I cut out the tongues for warranty, took out the laces on the bad boots for spares, and tossed the boots.

I recently had an aluminum extension ladder replaced for warranty. I guess it was usable but honestly it wasn't safe. I took the old ladder to a metal recycler and got paid around $13 for it. I purchased it with a $55 standoff "wing" accessory but it wouldn't fit the redesigned replacement. I contacted the mfg and they sent me a new "wing". I still need to recycle the old wing and will get a few bucks for it.

The defective sling pack? I'd remove any straps, removable pockets; anything not sewn to the pack and toss the pack.

Yeah I’m thinking I’ll end up scavenging what I can then tossing it. Feels such a waste for something with a small issue. Plenty of folks use non-waterproof packs all the time.

Ask Fishpond if they have any suggestions on recyclers who might take it.
