NFR US Men Soccer at Costa Rica Tonight

While for all practical purposes the US Men have already qualified for WC 2022 this winter in Qatar its still not official till they play tonight. Simple put all they need to do is to win, draw, or not lose by 6 or more goals.

For those who watched them spank Panama on Sunday 5-1, you know the later aint happening. I was at that match in Orlando and holy crap what an experience!

Now guys go get it done tonight!!!!

On to the world cup

Not the game we wanted to see from the star and stripes they go forward.

Next up is the draw to see that what group the USA will be in. To do some damage in the world cup the lads will need more quality in the center from their mid-field. Hoepfully Reyna will be at full strength by then.

those two quick goals probably got some folks wondering....only 4 to go...fortunately didn't happen.
 
The group draw is tomorrow. USA is in Pot 2 with Mexico, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Uruguay, Switzerland, and Croatia. FIFA won't put two countries from the same qualification region in the same group (except for Europe) so USA won't play Mexico in the group stage.

That's a tough group; no pushovers there.
 
While last night was not the finish we wanted to see here's another way to look at it.

Swap keepers and the US would have won easily. Navas had 3 saves that were tougher than first goal Steffen let go by. And the second goal was all because of a total mess of a clearance. Easy catch but no he drops it. Could also have punched it 30 yards downfield. One of the worst matches I have seen Steffen play.

As a goalkeeper myself, I 100% agree. Tough night for him

Maybe Robert Green will get called up for England! Fingers crossed! But yes Steffen looked pretty shaky. I'm nervous that presumably keepers 1A and 1B won't be getting much playing time in europe as backups for Man City and Arsenal.

Great to meet another member of the keeper club. I played keep at Oregon Tech. I don't fly around like I used to these days
