Upper Columbia River Trip

Thought I would share a recent trip to the upper Columbia for trout.
My wife and I stayed at "Black Bear Lodge" through Evening Hatch fly shop In Washington.

I have to admit the fishing was as good as advertised and more consistent then the fishing I had had on two previous trips to Alaska.

The price was right the food was good and the fishing was lights out.
Folks might want to consider this fishery if the cost to Alaska appears too much.
I will go back gladly.
I was not more than a patron so this is not anything more than a report.

Looking at this for a trip next year with my daughter. What time of year did you go? Also, considering the Kootenai River. Thanks for the report.

I went the last week in May.
I was told the creek mouths that feed into that stretch would be just opening and the fish would be unmolested.
I really enjoyed the "early" season where the fish had not been fished over as much.
I would do this trip again at the same time.
