Rob Allen
Life of the Party
I am a bit steamed about something WDFW has done.
Backstory several years ago I participated in one of the advisory groups to form a wild steelhead sanctuary
"We" Chose a particular river for numerous reasons and to help breed acceptance among the local anglers
We advocated for increasing plants on a nearby stream . This was to create a mitigation for the lost opportunity on the wild steelhead river.
Now this year all that opportunity was ripped away from them by the adding of a weir to collect
All the hatchery fish to keep them from spawning in the wild. Now I do believe that is a good goal however this weir is very low in the river, lower than almost all of the public access. These anglers just got screwed out of almost all their opportunity. WDFW at least region 5 at the decision making level is a back stabbing organization not worthy of ANY respect. In my book they are actively anti- angler.
Promises broken... i feel used.. I as a wild fish advocate bargined with those anglers in good faith and ruined the business of at least one guide. How many of those anglers down there, who are good people are going to be in favor of doing anything for wild fish ever again? WDFW region 5= the bad guys... no two ways about it.
