I think it was Mike Tyson who said that.As Muhammad Ali once said, "Everybody has a big plan, until they get punched in the mouth."

Guns don't shoot fast enough to stop a determined crowd.
Bad guys win every time people fear the gun.
Correct! I'll fix it!I think it was Mike Tyson who said that.
I have to agree however I don't think there are two hundred thousand Germans and hundreds of machine guns pointed at protestors or guarding the Kremlin.Uh, the Somme would like a word with you.
Part of the issue is that in a repressive security state like Russia, the government has tools to prevent big protests like you envision before they happen. Big protests have organizers. I bet Russia keeps tabs on the potential organizers and would whisk them away to jail (or kill them) if those "usual suspects" tried to organize a big protest. Also, I bet there could be hundreds of machine guns protecting the Kremlin in a matter of minutes.I have to agree however I don't think there are two hundred thousand Germans and hundreds of machine guns pointed at protestors or guarding the Kremlin.
I do not know the demographics of this site but many have never been in a war nor seen the atrocities created by war. They do not have a frame of reference to relate to. Our older members that have been through WWII, Korean conflict, Vietnam war, etc. do not talk about it. They have seen it, lived it and survived it. They want to forget the unspeakable but never will be able to...
I think our news sources are doing a dis-service. Yes, they say it will get worse before it gets better. Then immediately show a 5 minute clip on refugees. Is that what people think it's going to be in the near
@RobDo you actually believe this? I would venture to guess you have never been shot at with prejudice.
OkI have to agree however I don't think there are two hundred thousand Germans and hundreds of machine guns pointed at protestors or guarding the Kremlin.
yes I am aware of that..@Rob
You do realize we have weapons that can put a bullet into every square inch of a football field on less than 10 seconds, right ?
watched some of it alreadyOk
Rob, please, if you have Netflix, watch Winter on Fire before they rotate it out. It might change your ideas about crowd and riot dynamics.
All, I pitched this documentary last night because its informative. It gives good insight to the precursor events in Ukraine, to include why the EU is dragging its feet , and might explain why Putin feels entitled to attack and take it.
Ok.watched some of it already
And krusty says, "Everybody thinks they know what they would do in a bar fight, until they've actually been in one".

Isn't that the premise of Star Treks Replicator ?There is an interesting idea in a book by Cory Doctorow called Walkaway. He makes the point that the very rich want to keep what they have and prevent it being taken away by a mob with pitchforks and torches. There is a balancing point. If what he calls the "zottarich" keep everything and give nothing to to the rabble, surveillance and security costs to keep the rabble in line will skyrocket. At some point, it makes financial sense to toss enough crumbs to the rabble to keep them from revolting, because that's cheaper than repressing the rabble. Kind of like a pressure release valve. But recently, the cost of surveillance, security, and repression has become much, much lower. So fewer crumbs get tossed. In the book, that leads to many "have-nots" simply walking away from our societal system, enabled by advances in 3D printing that let people print what they need on demand, instead of keeping on-hand all the possessions they might need someday.
Kind of, yeah.Isn't that the premise of Star Treks Replicator ?
