Biden needs to demand that the Russian government hand over Putin to NATO immediately, immediately pull their forces out of Ukraine including Donbas and Crimea. Immediately withdraw Navy from the black sea and then prepare nuclear sites for inspection and disarmament.

And I mean demand! We cannot allow this to go on for weeks or months.
Putin is the Russian government.

Yeah
That's it

The last time the Moscow Stock Exchange was closed for this long was in 1917. It stayed closed for 75 years.

I hope Putin doesn't follow the footsteps of then President Harry Truman and drop 2 atomic bombs with the intentions of killing an estimated 125,000 to 250,000 civilians.
History does have a tendency to repeat itself.

Declared war or not.....targeting civilians is wrong.

Vlad has got a few more megatons of yield than ol' Harry did.

Based on Putin's recent talk with Macron - that's he's all in on taking all of Ukraine, the best example of what is about to happen is probably Grozny. This tragedy is going to get a lot worse. The before / after of the Chechen cities that resisted is pretty horrific.

That is grossly unfair to Truman. You can debate the tactic, but he was trying to end a war, not start one. And about the tactic: the calculation was more Japanese civilians would have been killed in an invasion of mainland Japan, plus thousands more Allied and Japanese soldier casualties.

fair enough. I don't want to debate tactics from decades ago.

Enjoy your day.

State of Kentucky's Teachers Retirement System was the second-largest shareholder for Sberbank of Russia (The largest bank in Russia). Their position dropped 95% in value from $13MM to $778K
What's even more interesting is that the top-3 institutional holders in that Russian bank are all from Kentucky.

$13MM is ~.104% of equity exposure and even smaller amount of $20.5Bil of total assets of the retirement annuity trust, per their 2020 annual report.

The nation can finally voice a collective sigh of relief; Sean Penn safely exited Ukraine.
All they need now is a helpful visit from Dennis Rodman, though it wouldn't surprise me in the least if we heard he was putting on basketball expositions for Putin.

Yeah, that trip was a total flop....

soooo, buy low?
Well I'm pretty sure the 'dip' is being bought by someone...it always is.
I think I read Bank of New York Mellon is the largest US shareholder at 16%...probably not buying more today though.
ADR's are above my paygrade, so nothing to offer on that.

Found it:
"Gazprom is held largely by two entities, the Russian Federation and the Bank of New York Mellon, which accounted for 50.23 percent and 16.7 percent, respectively."
