Putin's in deep trouble now! Bars in the US are pulling Russian vodka off the shelves and no longer serving it. And this'll really show Putin: Poland and Sweden's soccer teams are refusing to play Russia in the run up matches to the World Cup. They want FIFA to exclude Russia from any role leading up to the WC. This should throw Russian citizens into an anti-Putin frenzy.

What has not been mentioned much are the no-fly zones in response to Ukrainian invasion... Russian owned, registered, leased, controlled aircraft including private planes owned by oligarchs can not fly over EU (total of 28 countries), Canada, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, and Norway. Basically Russia can not fly Westward anywhere.

Numerous countries, including many of those mentioned above as well as the US, have also forbidden their airlines from flying to/over Russia and Belarus.

But one huge gap is a no-fly zone over Ukraine against Russia and Belarus. I sure hope that a solution is figured out soon. Ukraine desperately needs it...

I saw that on the news about the vodka and thought WTF? It’s already paid for anyway. As a rule i hate boycotts mostly because they hurt the employees who work at such places and never the targeted ones.

Nothing the press likes more than putting someone/something on a pedestal...
Unless it's tearing them down.

I do wish they'd be less infotainment, and more serious stuff, but alas, Americans don't have patience for that sort of 'attention span busting' investigative reporting it seems.
One of my good friends was a Hollywood director/ producer, worked in both movies and TV and he once told me: 'They call it show business, not show art. If those sorts of things made us tons of money, don't you think we'd be making them? TV is no different, and that includes the nightly news. They run what makes money, what sells soap as they used to say.'

Pretty much a direct quote....to the best of my remembrance.

Thunberg is a dog whistle for certain groups, to be sure.

These two are probably now on Putin’s hit list.
SF

They lost billions today, with nothing but losses on the horizon as far as they eye can see.
Deripaska doesnt have Manafort to run interference for him, or anyone else to do so at this point.
Putins days are numbered I'm guessing, don't have any idea how long, but numbered nonetheless.

I could be wrong (again) but I think he was poking more at the big deal made about her and yet nothing has changed. Not so much the personal attack. Just a thought ( I have so few)…I’m off to Lowes.
Good luck at Lowe’s.

There are more important Russian assets to be removed from more important places.

But people want to take a stand where they do have the agency to do so.

My blue puffer and yellow hat on Saturday may have been useless on a geopolitical scale, but it felt meaningful to me to express myself that way.

P.s. re the vodka, agree, it being already paid for was my first thought too

Freedom Fries....

If you're old enough to remember that.
;)

Don't forget about tennis! A Ukrainian tennis player is refusing to play her Russian opponent unless WTA goes along with IOC sanction recommendations :)

We can agree about the press, or not, and make that point without mocking a teenage girl and her geometry class.

J
couldn't agree more friend. i think the suggestion was (from roper) that possibly he wasn't mocking the girl - but the legend built up around her by others. he can chime in and clarify for himself if he likes though.

Funny you say this ! I was actually going to reference the Freedom Fries nonsense!
