Ugliest stick!

Not bamboo or even a fly rod! I built a Hotrod for a friend and he wants his first fishin pole redone…… Man, it was hurting with some rope rewraps, flaking nasty old paint and whatever finish was on top of that. Few different rusty guides and Flex Seal to hold the rear grip together….. I scraped the crap off and outta it, glued up some champagne corks and found some nice single foot spinning rod guides.

My friend loves to fish this rod……just needs a lot of TLC! I still have my Zebco push button closed face reel kid rod! I just might have to take it out and catch a fish with it! Lots of great stories from my dad…..

Wow……my buddy Steve isn’t going to recognize his old turd rod……five coats of Tru Oil really brought back the finish! I just finished the cork grips fitted with the original butt cap and winding check, And he wants them darkened a bit and some woodburned art…..I can hardly wait to see the look on his face when finished…..he’s gonna shit!!

It’s done! Now to get it back into Steve’s hands so he can enjoy and relive some of his childhood memories! Turned out pretty cool if I don’t say so myself……
