National Park.. no guns, planted bears = not nature.. wife saw a grizzly bears in Klickitat county, Washington Statr 10 years ago at extreme close range. Our dog chased it away..

Funny how people always want to do dangerous or ugly things in other people's back yards but never in their own. The people who live in/ near the park should have opinions that weigh about 600% more than other areas of the state.

Experts are idiots.

Your wife saw the only grizzly in the cascades in the last 30 years? And it wasnt even in be north cascades? What a remarkable thing to witness!

This is all likely much ado about little, with Doug Burghum having been selected as the new US Interior Secretary with a mandate to 'drill, baby, drill." The coming push to expand domestic oil drilling, which has already been announced by the incoming administration to include the currently off limits Arctic national wildlife region, and Musk's appt to 'trim' Federal environmental services, will undoubtedly shelve all such plans.

Nothing back from KREM, but after reading Rob's post I did do a search on "grizzly sighting southern Washington state" and came up with this map as the source of that data in the video I posted that restarted this interesting discussion.

And yes, KREM **sort of left out that most Griz sightings** are *unconfirmed
I too believe that most of these sightings are Black Bears but a few reports; three from Stevens County (probably Canadian immigrants, not stocked), and a track confirmed by a graduate student south of I90 that I don't see on this (*Big Griz? ;)) map, are confirmed.

One more time, as I've said throughout this thread, with an average ~25% of up close encounters between Yellowstone Griz and humans or their property (livestock) that has ultimately resulted in the killing of the bear, a Griz "hatchery" adjacent to - in the midst of (extends to I90) a population center the size of Western WA that is 3 times the size of the population adjacent to ALL of the other Grizzly Recovery Areas combined is not going to go well for the bears.
