Once again I've run into a material in a pattern recipe that I can't find It's in Scott Sadil's book on Pacific Coast flies. The material is crystal SPLASH not crystal flash. He uses it to dress a "czechish nymph". I've looked through my catalogs and tried to google it but the SPLASH keeps getting changed to flash like a spell check problem. Anybody have any idea what it is, what it looks like, and where I can get some. It's impossible to see what it is in the book photos. Ideas would be welcome as I would like to tie this fly. Thanks for the help.

Do you have a picture of the pattern?
I found this, but it just looks like
Krystal Flash to me.

Thanks. It looks like crystal flash for sure. On my way out the door to my wife's annual highschool picnic but will try to take a photo when I'm back. The photo in the book gives me no clue as to the color of the flash which is golden olive by name. A color that my catalogs do not list in the flash section. I'll probably just use olive and to hell with it.

Here is the czechish nymph that requires golden olive crystal splash. Hard to see golden olive in this photo. Someone mentioned root beer flash and I'll go with that. As Gierach said it's hard to tie a fly that won't catch a fish. As the great Zen master said, "we'll see".

Some of the non-US based fly material companies offer colors you won’t find at Hareline.
I really like the dark brown shine offered by Hends.

Crystal Splash was a Spirit River product that is now discontinued. You can find old stock online at places like the Flyshack. It is the same material as Krystal Flash.
