Spent two nights at a known but often overlooked river near a very large and famous one. Just a great time away and alone to clear the mind.

Caught a lot of the 6-8” trout typical of this water.

Also nabbed some big ones (12”) for this river, which was exciting. They fought hard.

Even the babies got in on it.

So sure, those 12”ers were fantastic. Big fish for the water. Dry-dropper was key (chubby Chernobyl with a hares ear spider or rainbow warrior were money) or just straight dry fly fishing (especially purple haze). But then I decided, with the abundance of stoneflies in the water, to throw a pats rubber legs into some deep water. Just for fun. And I caught the monster of the river. Heck of a fight on a 4-weight and not the easiest to land with a too small net and on my own.

(And no, I don’t know why I’m holding it weird there.)
After a short rest, it took off to deep water. Beautiful fish and a great time on the river.
