An honest tune with a lingering lead
This story is fascinating on so many levels.

Who's in?

Isn't this just the same shtick Musk did in 2018 when he said funding was secured to take Tesla private at $420/share with Saudi buyers? Uses tweets to get market activity to boost price to some inflated target, SEC sues over this, he settles and has to pay a relatively small fine compared to what he made when dumping the stock at the higher price. Nothing goes private, he walks away with the attention he wants, and the SEC gets a minor win from the lawsuit.

I hate Twitter. The worst of the internet.

I'm also not a Musk fan, but I have to at least admit he's involved with some cool stuff.

But as popcorn entertainment, the Twitter/Musk thing is pretty fascinating. I predict that the sale won't happen. But that's just a guess.

I’m not sure who is the worst propaganda and selective censorship offender, Facebook or Twitter. But they are both juggernauts. It would be a pretty dreamy scenario to see them become social media platforms again instead of a political tool.

If you consistently censor one side or particular views in a bicameral system you don't have a social media site. You now have a state media site. Sadly I view most media as state media. They aren't even trying to hide it anymore. That's why I get my news from reliable sources like The Babylon Bee.

As far as Musk and Twitter go I hope he buys it. The real interesting part will be what be does with it. He claims to be a free speech absolutist. I'm also a free speech absolutist. He seems willing to put his money where his mouth is. Only time will tell if he'll put his ideals where his money is. I find it further interesting that the Saudi Prince doesn't want to sell. We already know what the Saudi's think about free speech. I wonder how much of our leadership they truly own and influence?

On another note, you almost can't write this stuff. Or at least can't write it and remember it apparently.

Facebook is an irredeemable dumpster fire. I use Twitter ONLY for keeping up with my crypto investments - which it is unmatched for. Outside of that niche category, it's about as much of a dumpster fire as Facebook.

Musk uses Twitter to pump and dump his speculative assets. He also just likes attention. So those are probably his motivations.

I joined Twitter only to follow the Seahawks. I have never posted on it and don’t look at it much unless i hear news about what is going on with the NFL. I wish Elon would buy it and shut it down completely. (same with Facebook). He would be doing America a favor.

I don't tweet either. However I've read a few articles that referred me to links there which spawned an exploratory dive into the twitaverse. It is a veritable treasure trove of self righteous stupidity and absolutist paper thin ideological crap that is good for a hearty laugh until you read the authors of such things then it provokes panic and sadness as many of them are elected leaders and representatives of industry that I'd hoped and expected were smarter than that. Then the piling on by a mentally stunted populace brings further dismay.

My only reaction to twitter news is fuck 'em. MTG got banned and deprived me of my daily gut busting guffaw! They will never be forgiven.

These things are here to stay. Shut them down and something like it will pop up to replace it. These genies won't go back in the bottle.

If Musk buys it, maybe what happened at the "former not to be named place" will happen to Twitter, ie, 3 cool dudes will start up something better and all the cool kids will move over.

Disclosure - never ever been on Twitter or FB, have absolutely no desire whatsoever to ever be, lest perhaps 3 cool dudes start something better:)

cheers

Totally, there's always Parlour and Truth Social.

Musk has 'fuck you' money, it's nice that someone besides Soros and his gang of reptilians that rule the world has the kind of assets to really shake things up.
