Throwing junk lake report

I hit my favorite lake recently and found the bite to be slow to start.

My every day carry flies (jig leeches) weren’t producing much.

I switched over to a booby on a type 6 sinking line. This produced a few fish, but they weren’t really committing to taking the fly. My hook up ratio was about 1 out of 20 hits.
With my lack of success/frustration, I figured I might as well go all in and throw a double junk rig at them. I tied on a FAB 12” behind the booby.

For whatever reason the fish were all over the FAB and I started landing many nice fish.

Since I was on the junk train I decided to mix it up and try something different. I tied on a balanced blob and a large chironomid 10’ under an indicator. I used a figure eight knot for the chironomid dropper rig. I find it easy to tie and it works. If you’re looking for an alternative to blood knots and double surgeons knot, google the figure 8 knot.

I caught a few on the chironomid, but the blob was hot. The fish liked the blob as much as the FAB. I had a lot of bobber downs.IMG_6044.jpeg

Towards the end of the day I found a spot where the fish were eagerly taking small jig leeches on a type 3. It was good to get the junk stink off of me.

The jig leech produced the nicest fish of the day.

Besides my fishing partner still not being a good boat driver, it was a good day.

I know it's not the case, but the way that photo looks, it looks like you photoshopped him into the pic....lol
