Not sure whether I'm supposed to post this in the Trip Reports forum or this one, but I think the Trip Reports forum is for destination trips overseas or somewhere exotic, whereas to me BC fishing is just part of the PNW, so I'll post this in our Lakes forum.

I'm sure if you've been there you'll recognize this lake from this photo. Believe me, it wasn't calm like this very often, just in the early morning hours. When I arrived on 6/4 it was whitecaps and windrows. As you can see from my photo, the water clarity was very good, and the water temperature was in the 53 to 56 degree range (F).

I fished the lake for just over 2 days and found the fishing to be tough, but this lake is managed as a quality fishery, so that's to be expected. This chart shows the sizes of the fish I landed and released:

I believe all the fish I landed were Pennask triploid rainbows, and were all very silvery with very little spotting, like this one:

The fish were all excellent fighters and about half were spectacular jumpers. I believe the fish fight well partly because the Common Loons exercise the fish and cull out the slower or weaker fish.

No hatches of significance occurred while I was there, but I did see a couple of Traveling Sedges:

Almost all the fish I hooked took a Dark Olive Rabbit Fur Leech, casting and stripping like I normally do.

I shared the lake with one other guy, but the first couple of nights I was the only one camping there, so if you like solitude, this might be one to consider.

I had not fished in BC since the Covid pandemic began, so it was nice to be back up there. This trip brought back a lot of good memories, and reminded me of why I like fishing the BC lakes.

Good move on your part to cooler temps! Penask, streamlined, fish it is. With those water temps it would be hard to come back home!
