They're chunky in the UK

So I was in London with the wife last week while she was there for work. I figured maybe I could do some fishing? Looked up a local fly shop in London and they hooked me up with a guide about an hour north of the city. The next day, I hopped on a train and headed north to meet up with the guide who had access to a couple private lakes that held some rainbow and brown trout.

I didn't land any browns but caught 5 nice rainbows. I remembered to get a photo of one of them. The farm we fished on was beautiful and this was one of two private lakes. Caught everything stripping a small silver/blue/yellow cone head leech.

That absolutely has that "English countryside" feel to it. Very pretty!

What flies were working over there?

We were using smaller what I would call a leech but they called them streamers. There was a goo rain the previous day so the water was a little clouded. That's the kind of fly he usually uses for this lake but in the evenings and when the fish are rising, smaller various styles of dry flies work really well. They just never started to rise when I was there. We caught everything maybe 4 to 6 feet down as we stripped toward the shore.
