Do any of y’all know about this solar inflatable gadget?
Last October we were at a cabin on Port Townsend in a rural area where it gets really dark at night. A windstorm knocked out the power for over 12 hours. The manager texted me to let me know they had one of these inflatable solar lanterns in a drawer. I assumed it wouldn’t work because it was nighttime when the power was out so we couldn’t have charged it. but we inflated it (like a kid’s swimming pool) and whaddya know? It worked. The light has three brightness, plus an emergency strobe . The brightest setting is good enough to read a novel and to cook with. (We had a gas stove in the VRBO.)
We left it on all night in the bathroom and it was still working the next day. I bought three of these (two for Christmas presents for my friends who have motor homes. But damn, I paid the full price each of them though.
Even though the one i got for myself was charged i put it outside for a few hours on our covered patio which has a skylight. It wasn’t even that much sun out that day. That was on Dec. 1st and it is still holding a bright charge, though we haven’t had to use it yet, since even with this ice storm we have power. I like that it doesn’t have to continually be charged whether you use it or not.
What’s also great is it when deflated it flattens to a pancake and you can still charge it in the sun deflated. I’m going to always bring it on trips in case of power failures. And if you are camping or fishing you can clip it to a belt or whatever.
