I own some things, not necessarily rare or expensive, that make my life better or easier and I think everyone should know about them and maybe get their own. I'd be very interested in hearing from others about their favorite things.

Also, maybe I'll get some last minute ideas for stocking stuffers from this thread!

I'll start with these:

99.9% of the time I need a measuring spoon, it is a tablespoon or teaspoon. And these have magnets on the back. I keep them stuck to the side of the fridge so they are always handy.

What things float your boat?
 
I've set up a lot of smart home stuff. My wife was against all of it and I mostly just did it for fun, but now we can't live without it.
  • Motorized blinds
  • Motion controlled stair lights
  • Motion controlled bathroom fans
  • Robot vacuum at 3am every night
  • Etc.
I even put the Christmas tree on a smart outlet and set a schedule, so we don't have to turn it on and off every day. I've gone way overboard, but you can set up some really useful stuff for $20-30.

For something smaller, IKEA makes the best wine opener ever invented. Everyone is skeptical, when they first see it. However, once they actually use it, they're sold.

I bought one of these at the Le Bon Marché in Paris, 1983. It has gone around the world with me (literally), and I still have it.

Ok…you will probably laugh at me…but I find these plastic coated wire wraps absolutely indispensable. I use them primarily to fully rig a fly rod, then break them down in half and secure them…but have found hundreds of uses for them over the years
 
I've gotten more and more into collecting knives the last few years and have accumulated quite a few, but this is the one that lives in my pocket at all times. Quiet Carry Drift. Completely corrosion resistant, which is a huge plus for someone who spends so much time on the saltwater. Incredible action, the perfect size for an EDC knife, and is so comfortable in my hand.

Perfect timing to snap a pic since I was sharpening it up this morning

Those things are so rad. Every time @SilverFly comes out tuna fishing he uses those to secure a selection of rods to the house of the boat, and every time I think "man I need to pick some of these up". And I always completely forget to do so.
 
Agree, those coated wire doodads are one of the handiest “new“ things to come along in a long time. They’re really useful for all kinds of stuff, especially to secure things aboard a boat, like those fold up crab pots. I also use them to secure the float tube to a packboard while hiking in to ponds/lakes. Handy.

A few of my favorite things:
A Salmon Fly hatch

A good Smallmouth spinnerbait bite wind, rain, and reeling as fast as you can..

A slow drifting bobber sliding under as a Chinook takes.

Long road trips to places I've never been

Tastey food, very uncommon since covid.

Great stuff, I buy these rolls and stash them in various places...pickup, boat, etc.
