The weather, I don't get it

How come in the winter when we want to fish for steelhead on a Saturday it often rains buckets on Friday and puts the rivers out of shape by Saturday morning
But come September when we want cooler weather, clouds and rain for a day at the beach fishing for ocean run slab coho it's sunny and 80 degrees by noon?

3rd weekend in a row in the Gorge its been 70s during the week and high 80s low 90s on the weekend.

Still better than last fall though.
