The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat

ABC's Wide World of Sports opening dialog brings back memories, for sure...

I get stoked when fish leap out of the water. Seeing what I am about to net increases my excitement. As @Starman77 recently related about a fish leaping 7 times. Stoked for sure!

I have had more than my share of defeats recently, unfortunately,

Questions regarding fishing techniques to keep them hooked/'buttoned':

Do you fish differently for leaping fish in lakes vs. moving water?
Do you fish differently for floating lines vs. sinking lines?

Is it "it what it is?" or are there techniques that improve catch techniques?

I have been fishing for many, many years.
I have learned a thing or two about fighting the fish after the hook up.
I have landed steelhead on my 3wt rod, and 20" plus cutts.
In the days when I was much younger I lost more big trout than landed.
There is so much to learn about fighting the fish and the only way to do that is to go fishing.
As for watching fishing shows, not so much these days, but when I was younger, if I wasn't fishing I was watching those fishing shows.
My favorite was "Fishing Walkers Cay with Flip"
