I took my grandson Austin, and daughter on what has become an annual Spring Break fishing trip to some private lakes in Oregon. We had to work for the fish in between rain squalls and wind, but my of my, did we catch some nice, big, fat rainbows! Austin caught the biggest (20”+) … on a 3/4wt bamboo rod and a silk line! He won’t be right for weeks…
(Paul.. we brought the flies you gave Austin, but we were catching fish on a little olive thing, so never got around to trying yours. Maybe next trip!)
..one of the big fish barfed up a bunch of snails! (I don’t have a fly to match that) We did a belly sample on another, and it was full of “chromies” ..wish I’d had enough time to try some chironomid.
