The Mountain Bike Thread

I posted a pic of this in my latest TR, but why not take another look at this rig.

Some years ago I realized I needed a MTB and was checking out what the local stores had to offer in the $1500 ballpark. That buys/bought a pretty decent bike. I was looking at the typical Treks and Specialized when this caught my eye over in the corner. Turns out it had been built up by one of the mechanics and he was selling it lightly used for 15 c-notes. Mine!

This thing is ridiculously capable, far beyond anything I'd ever need. All the components are, as they say in England, "the business," and it's built for hucking big air. The current tires are a bit wimpy for that, but just fine for the sedate riding I do.

I've been hitting a few trails on my fatbike. Quite a workout but it's extremely surefooted and forgiving.

Just topped off the sealant in my HT tires and intend to ride a bit tomorrow. So damn hot I'll have to hit the trails early.

Does your son have a dropper post on that bike...a dropper significantly reduces the chance of an OTB on a steep downhill.

I put one on. He's done the section before. 20" wheels don't leave a lot of room for error in the rocks.
