I’ll bet most of you are scratching your heads on this one. Let me ‘slpain…
For several years now I host the Spring Fling at our place above Oroville. Friends come from all over and hang out together fishing, eating, drinking and bullshitting. Some stay in the house, @iveofione stays in his Casa, someone actually slept in my driveway once, I’ll let him confess if he wants to. It happens between Mothers and Memorial Days. This year made for a slow going spring that we felt affected the fishing.
Ive was the first to show up and we hit Molson and got bumpkins, nada! not even a bump. That was the case when Scotty and I hit it a few weeks earlier, Sidley was the same issue. Dinner at the Pastime to console ourselves.
Over the next few days we would hit several other lakes with varying success. @Tim Lockhart and @Scott Salzer showed up a few days later to join in. A review of the lakes we hit, none are zipper lips, shows this.
Little Beaver, zip!
Lost Lake, lots of cookie cutter bows and darn few brookies.
Aeneas, slower than usual but decent. You could see big cruisers on the bottom but few takers.
Blue, slow for everyone but Tim. That SOB had a fish on every time I looked over. I caught one the first visit, better the second time.
now for some pics…
Start with Blue Lake

Aeneas

Little Beaver scenery, no fish

Lost Lake, the first fish was attacked by a loon as I was retrieving it.

The last visit to Blue produced a callibeatis hatch and some slurpers. Tim graciously gave me an emerger and I picked up a hen, the first of three to fall to the tiny dry.
I’ll have to continue in a second post, only ten files per post. Look for part two…
