The Davy Knot

This Davy knot looks good, but I have always tied flies on using a Duncan loop. First knot I learned at a fly fishing class back when I started. I'm talking multiple decades here and the loop has always served me well. I've used it on small flies to steelhead. I'm curious about knot strength comparisons. I've landed 20 inch browns on size 20 flies (not telling where). Definitely gonna start practicing though.

Nice video!! I like the double clinch knot and can tie it in my sleep, but will practice a bit with this one!

I can tie a nail knot, clinch knot, blood knot, arbor, surgeons, perfection loop, etc. It is very manly to be able to tie those knots !

However, I have now stopped tying 90% of the knots. I use loop connectors on the fly line/leader and tie in a tippet ring on the distal end of the leader. This reduces my knot tying to clinch for the ring onto the leader and tippet to ring. I also use clinch on the fly, but will on occasion use a davey. An occasional blood knot to reduce tippet size is all I need.

As you get older you both get lazier and understand that easy is "good enuf"
Truer words were never spoken.

I now have the shakes so tying any knot is a chore for me. I can do all of the above but because of them I don't. And sometimes simple is also out. This is part of my reason not to fish. The other is that I'm just lazy.
