I am also retired, but you have far too much time on your hands…you need to make a porchetta or something…

I heard the rumor mill about this too…but its not happening. The new HC Mintner would not have taken the job if he knew they were going to trade Lamar…

They’ll definitely need a new deal for him. I think I saw that his cap hit is like 74 million next year.

Probably doesn't make sense, Raiders need to build a team, Jackson is already on a downhill grade, by the time the Raiders build a team, he'll be toast.

... and why would you take him (Lamar) on when you have the potential franchise QB with you #1 pick, he'll come cheaper, and likely be better even as early as next year. It just makes no sense whatsoever, course, that's maybe why the Raiders would do it...

Yeah I think we're about to see Jackson see the same type of decline as Russ. That style of play isn't compatible with the slow down of age and high mileage like a pure pocket passer.

Speed does not age well.

In theory, why can't a guy like Lamar pivot to pocket passing? Presumably that phase happens for a lot of successfully aging q-backs. I suppose the pocket protection + height of passer have a lot to do with that. Lamar's three inches taller than Russ... add to that Russ sacked over 500 times, Lamar just over 200- figure every sack means a tiny hit to brain and flexibility of player to come up with scramble options moving forward (Russ in league 6 more years than Lamar...)

I'm sure it's possible, but you're asking a professional who has committed to a specific style a play their whole career to change their mechanics. I really don't think it's quite that simple. He's taller, but does he have the mental/physical ability for the quick release required?

x2...with all the position holes the Raiders have they need a QB on a rookie contract for the years it is going to take them to plug those holes. I like Mendoza, he see's the field well and has a quick release, appears a more athletic version of Brady

He can in theory. I think he has a better chance than Wilson.

Jackson has excellent stats while throwing in the pocket. Jackson's legs force teams into playing zone a lot so that they do not give up big scramble plays (DB's face the QB). His legs also force teams to spy him if the play man a lot so he is facing one less pass defender or one less rusher. In my opinion much of his succeess in the pocket stems from the defense having to be predictable in it's coverage and having to account for his legs. His legs give him a huge advantage as a pocket passer. If his legs go he will need to adjust to teams being willing to pressure him and not have to account for him wwith a spy.

This...plus a stud guard & tackle for the o-line, another edge rusher to compliment Maxx and some help in the defensive backfield...
