Something I hadn't seen till now...

Lol

If he gets cut, he doesn't get the guaranteed money.
D(umbf*c)K lost bigly.

Colts and Bucs have certainly cooled off after hot starts while teams like the Texans have come back from the dead. 17 games is a marathon.
SF

Aiyuk who?

That Niner D won't hold up against good offenses but its fun to watch them hang tough. If only Warner could come back for week 18...

Rivers is no Danny Dimes I guess...

Let Baker cook...no...wait a minute.

:)

excellent win, Purdy saw the field well, made the throws, had excellent feet in and out of the pocket = 5 TD's and no sacks. Next up some bear hunting...

On the other hand... Purdy was just about perfect from what I could see.. didn't watch the entire game. Kittle was all that and a bag of chips. As a hawks fan it's a bit troubling that we only put up 6 field goals when the 9'ers damn near hung a 50 burger on 'em.

Best late season in the NFC West (maybe the entire NFC) I can remember in a long time.

Rams have a cakewalk to end of season, Hawks tougher, Niners hardest and remain hammered to hell, no #1 receiver, best LB in the league as well as an apex pass rusher out...and still, what are two of the best coaches in the league are showcasing their talents working with what they've got.
Having had zero expectations this season after the injuries set in, this is when as a fan you can just set back and enjoy the league games.

That’s the NFL. How can the eagles put up 21 in the first half on the cowboys then 0 second half. I remember listening to Mike Holmgren one time and I have heard other coaches mention this. Coaches have a vision of the best way to win the upcoming big game. Not that they can’t win it but the type of game that will benefit them the most. The vision usually involves keeping the game close and pulling it out in the end. Defense is gonna keep them to 17 and we’ll get 17 feeding Shaun Alexander the ball 20 times and using a mix of short to medium PAP. Half way through the 4th qtr we will tire them and pound the run. I see our best opportunity to win this game is keeping it a 20-17, 24-17 type of game. So that’s the game plan. Game starts and at end of 1st qtr your down 20-3. The game takes on a new whole dynamic and you end up with a wild 41-38 type of game. Or you get
Two high powered creatures offenses facing each other and one team wins 9-6. If you want to figure it out go ask Vegas. They are amazing most of the time.

Why do the niners seem to have major injuries every year?

Why do the niners seem to have major injuries every year?

Good question, one that gets asked a lot in the Bay Area. They completely redid their training staff a couple years back but it doesn't seem to have mattered. They do practice hard, and their style of play is pretty violent. Maybe they draft guys who are prone tooo much, like Bosa. But a lot of it is just guys getting caught weird, like Aiyuk last year and Warner this year. Warner had only missed one game in 5 years so you can't say he gets hurt a lot, it just happened in a weird tackle. They have a great field but do seem to get hurt more when they travel to turf fields(the league really needs to outlaw that crap). They also have a lot of star players(they invest heavily in certain positions and go cheap in others) so its more likely a star player gets hurt.

Or maybe its just bad luck. Whatever it is, it has been fun watching them battle back all year and they certainly will be better for it next year no matter what happens in these final weeks. My guess is they will lose to the Bears, go in as a wild card, and maybe win the first round but definitely not the second round. I'd call that a successful season given they are missing WR1, DT1, LB1 and their first round draft pick. A lot of the young guys are stepping up and playing better each week and they will be cheap quality players next year. Getting Aiyuk off the books means they can make a splash in FA and they have a bunch of early round draft picks. Trying to do what the Rams did a few years ago with a soft reset through the draft but keeping some stars.

-Purdy, having a great season, tearing his elbow on the first drive of the NFC championship game against the Eagles
-LB Dre Greenlaw, absolutely dominating the line of scrimmage against the run, tears his Achilles just jumping up in excitement to get back on D against the Chiefs in the SB

sigh...

They have had some unfortunate injuries over the past 3 years....that's for sure.

Does having the 3rd oldest group of starters explain it at all?

Not really.
Trent Williams is 37 and hasn't missed a game and is in the pro bowl
Weeks their long snapper is 39, played every game and is in the pro bowl
Morestead is 39, played every game and is in the pro bowl
Juszczyk is 34, played in every game and is in the pro bowl
Brendel is 34 and only missed 2 games
(granted, 2 of those guys are kicking unit only but that skews the team age considerably)

Meanwhile
Their #1 pick Williams is 21 and out for the season
Pearsal is in year 2 and has missed 6 games so far
Even Bosa is only 28

I'm not saying you are wrong, just that they seem to get hurt at all ages, not just the old guys.

Hard to say what it is, training, practices, turf, age...it has been consistent though.

Something in the water ?
🤔

Pretty good data. It seems only Bosa is over the league average in age.
It seems like the 49ers injury issues are persistant and consistant.

It's an issue that's followed Shanahan. I've read he's known for having players practice and play when they shouldn't.

That's my guess too...
He runs folks into the ground and so you'd expect they'll get hurt at times.

Rams fired their special teams coach with 2 weeks left in the season.
I guess they were a bit too special, and now will become less special...because reasons.
🤔
