"IF" the lions beat the rams this weekend.I'll be talking some big smack....
But then again, my dad would say, " IF" a frog had longer legs, it wouldn't bump its ass every time it jumped...

It could have been 65 if Jones hadn’t thrown any passes. 😉
They liked to run it back in the days. Maybe the Colts go retro, three yards and a knee surgery offense?

Thats a cool spreadsheet. Thanks.

Looks like 1981 is closest year in the top 25. Crazy to think that's 40 years ago. Rule changes have de-incentivized running it that much.

I suppose that if you ran on every down and you played at a normal NFL pace you could get 60-65. Maybe you lose some down in the 2 minute periods? Makes me wonder if an OC could scheme up an Old Chip Kelly style offense where they run plays quickly and run it a lot. Could you tire out an offense in the NFL? I would love to see a team with a roster/ line like the Eagles try it.

Here is a graph of who runs the most plays per game in the NFL:

Chicago runs it the most:

The teams ranking site is really fun to look at. It really shows what parts of the game matter to wins and losses.

Some interesting stats on that site. The time of possession and the percentage of pass versus run.
Damn the Bengals…..

I remember Shanahan losing faith in JimmyG in the GB-SF playoff game a few years ago and I believe they only ran the ball in the second half. Quick stat check shows they ran the ball 29 times but only passed 19, each gaining 106 yards. There might have been a couple passes in the second half but I just remember once GB couldn't stop the run the Niners never went away from it. Rodgers last game in GB...

Kirk Cousins has been brought in to be Philip Rivers' agent....3 year deal for 95 million, 75 guaranteed.

If he gets on the roster, I believe the guy is getting under center.

I'm conflicted. I want to keep watching the Seattle D kick ass, but I don't want Rivers to get a compound fracture or be decapitated.

Rivers always got the ball out fast, he never ran around much, he couldn't. Doubt he's gained a lot of mobility on the couch.
In his last year, he struggled with long balls, but was still a timing and quick pass guy who stayed in his game.

Expect if he plays, a lot of short passes, checkdowns to Taylor, and handoffs.

I'm so fascinated by seeing Rivers play. I always enjoyed watching him with his weird release and trash talk. But, like many others don't want to see him come out if the pile in two pieces.
