Thank you

Folks,

Fairly new to the forum here, but I just earned my posting privileges and wanted to say thank you for making this little home away from home on the internet.

I am self employed, a dad, and a caregiver for my dad, etc. Dont get to socialize too much outside those duties.

I've tried the FB fishing groups, and I just can't stand it. (Somehow everyone hates everyone, and it all boils down to federal politics. Puke.)

This place has been a breath of digital fresh air. So thanks for building it. Hope to contribute something myself as time goes on, and maybe wet a line with some of you fellas.

Happy Trails

Welcome aboard Steven! I think you'll find people are here for much the same reason as yourself.

However, you provided the wrong info for your bio. Here are the heavy hitting philosophical debates you'll encounter here. Let us know where you stand.

Indicators- to peg or not to peg, and which side to peg, and isnt that just a bobber?

Do flies fish better with no eyes, realistic eyes or derpy googly eyes?

What exactly is not an Atlantic salmon?

How you do apply the sand to your humpies?

Why doesnt @Evan B smile?

Is a sculpin a skunk?

Does a little BoBo live in all of us?

In all seriousness, welcome. And in even all serious seriousness-er, get to answering those questions.

Tell us about the buoy you caught there

3rd of July, I had a client call for an inspection in ocean park. A HUD engineering certificate to be specific. I take the photos, then send em off to an engineer and wait. Easy job for me.

I had scheduled the day off, and ocean park is about 2 hours outside my normal service area. But, I started to think about the Ilwaco Jetty and some rockfish. I could get paid to fish. For once the stars alligned. So I quoted the guy.

He was in a pinch to get it done to close the sale before the holiday, and agreed to a significant travel fee in addition to my normal rate for this work. So basically I couldn't say no.

Typically I just knock it out and head to the next appointment, and if the engineer rejects for whatever reason I just go back and do whatever they ask the next day. But I didn't have any other appointments because I'd scheduled the day off, and a second round trip would have been both costly and unpleasant.

Being the 3rd of July they were backed up trying to clear the reports before the 4th which meant I needed to kill about 6 hours in Ilwaco.

So i left the house at 3, and had the field inspection sent to the engineers by 8 a.m.

Forgot the stripping basket, so stripped into my lunchbox (not recommended) until Josh opened up at Spawn. Popped in for a stripping basket and some Intel. They said what I had suspected all morning.... I somehow managed to line all of that up with a crystal clear day in Ilwaco. Basically.... don't bother trying to catch rockfish off the Jetty.

So, I did the right thing and went back to the Jetty. Pounded the water for another 2 hours without a bite, and did some trash pickup (read: free shrimp buoy acqusition) on the way out.

Got skunked, but had to prove to my wife that I had in fact gone fishing while getting paid. So i did a grip and grin with the buoy.

Seemed like an appropriate photo for the page here. Then I had to write bio. So actually the photo and substandard bio are both related to a day I drove 8 hours to get utterly and completely skunked (but the check cleared.)1000044543.jpg1000044532.jpg

1. Whats an indicator, and why do I need to peg my bobber when its got the springy hooks in it already? I prefer to fish the 2 inch ones red side down.

2. Eyes are just fancy weights to catch fishermen.

3.) Carp are the only species which are not Atlantic salmon, though occasionally grayling will exhibit traits dissimilar to other Atlantic salmon. Cloop on brother.

4.) I only catch pinks in the Puyallup, so I prefer to coat them in mud, rusty shopping carts, excrement, space needles, and the greed of 10,000 flossers rather than sand.

5.) Couldn't say. Perhaps we ought to take him fishing and cheer the feller up.

6.) Undoubtedly

7.) No, Bobo lives on in Merill Spencer's basement.

All fair points, except some carp are indeed Atlantic salmon! Welcome aboard brother!
