TFO deer creek 14' 6/7

Just picked up one of these on kind of an impulse purchase and was wondering if anyone had experience with this rod. I haven't had a chance to take it out for a test run but bought it hoping it would work well with mid belly lines. I currently have a Delta Long multi tip and a cnd gps 7/8 laying around and figured one might make a good match.
I noticed that this rod changed its grain window. The one I picked up was the newer version with the synthetic cork and 425-700gr window. I noticed the older ones were 400-650gr which is what I thought I was getting. Any difference in the rods or just labeled differently?
What are other heads and lines people like on this rod?

Thanks

One of my favorite rods! I like the Airflo Rage 480gr and polyleaders for fishing surface/near surface flies in the summer. Occasionally take it out in the winter with a SA Skagit 480gr and T10 tips from 7' to 12'.

A 14’ 6/7 is pretty dang good for a 6, not too many 6’s I’ve seen are above 12.5 or 13ft.

I bet airing on the lighter side of the grain window you could throw 10’ t12 and t14 no problem.

I have an older 13' 6/7 Deer Creek and like it a lot. Never cast the 14ft version. But generally all the DC rods I've encountered have been pretty great.

I dont remember them making a 14' 6/7, the 14' 7/8 was an amazing stick like most of them where!

With a CND GPS 7/8 was one sweet set up!

I'd think a standard Delta would match up nicely. They seem to match up with softer rods much better than the multi-tips.

I have and liked using delta multi tip

I use delta's and delta's with multi tips. Not sure what you mean by the difference? I have both delta's and delta lines with multi tips. How does the match up matter on the multi tip line?

The final year of the Deer Creeks they released many models in 5pc. I came into possession of one of the 12'6" 5/6wt 5pc and I know there were at least three other models that were released as 5pc rods.

They were a bit stiffer because of the additional ferrules and the actions were changed a bit.

Didn't even think of the Deltas - I sure miss the original mint green ones. The Delta II version was garbage and I don't even know if they're still made.

I got the Delta Long 6/7 and the CND 7/8 all spooled up and ready to go. Also have a regular Delta 6/7 and 7/8 that I can try. Just need to get down to the river...
