Seeking opinions on the use of taming guides on a fly rod. Placed a short distance above the initial stripping guide, it is supposed to guickly flatten your line accommodating smooth movement through the remaining guides, making for easier casting and superior distance. Has anyone used these guides.? Popular in tournaments I've read. Any opinions.?

I just googled it, thanks for posting. I have noticed recently using my GFL and Loomis that I like the way line moves on my rods that have two stripping guides. Might be something to it. Will follow along with interest.
