Superstitions

I have one superstition that I can't get over: I feel like it's really bad luck to see an elk on the way into elk camp.

I've had it happen 3 or 4 times, where I see elk on the way in and get all jacked to the tits about the upcoming hunt - then see zero elk for the next week +.....
From bumping lake area 2 years ago - damn near ran this guy over. Closest I got to seeing any elk that trip was getting barked at through the trees by a cow.
Same thing has happened several times....

Yesterday was setting up game cams and turned the corner to find this guy standing in the road - now I'm applying the above superstition to game cam setup. Feeling like I'm going to go back in a few days and move them all 🤷‍♂️ 😁

I know I'm treating this like the equivalent of having bananas in the boat - but I can' shake the damn superstition.

Anyone else have any weird superstitions they can't shake?

Mine’s fishing two flies under an indicator…..usually a chromie on top and a micro leech on the bottom. I’ve tried a bunch of times with one fly and nothing….put on the second fly and bobber down! Even though 90% of the fish are on the bottom fly….and the top fly usually catches my finger, other rods during transport or……

Nice bulls! Track 'em down.

AWEOSME Bull!

Being in and around sports all of my life, I have seen some dudes with real issues in this regard. I coached with a guy who had worn the same undershirt on gamedays for more than 20 years...never missed once!

I wouldn't describe myself as superstitious but there was a time in my life when I was a "little-stitious". I have since overcome the disability, but I have a strap on my release that needed to be tucked under the main strap or the release would be rendered useless. It made zero sense, but that was the deal.

I 100% get that. The wrist strap on my carter release - same way. If the wrist strap cord wasn't on I felt like I couldn't take the shot - created some missed opportunities. Until after one of those I cut the damn cord once and for all. Problem solved.

Or with two rods.... It's always the rod I'm not holding that bobbers down.

Superstitious? When I played ball as I made way in from center field, I'd divert my path so I could tap my right foot on the bag at second.

When fishing it's more like a religious thing, which some would say is a superstition.
If it's a water I truly feel a kinship too, I'll stop at water's edge, take a knee, thank my maker for letting me be in this place once again and lightly anoint my brow and cheek with a palm full of its water.
