Super shorty Hotrod

I had to make a tiny Hotrod to use my tiny St. George jr, CFO123, Flyweight and many other sub 3” reels…… 56 3/4” one piece scarfed 3/5 wt , single foot guides, gold translucent wraps, wine cork grip and my stacked bamboo reelseat. Lawn cast today….fishing it soon! 45’-50’ easily and accurately!

Small creeks?? I’m fishing this in lakes for as big of fish I can persuade to bite!! But it will make a killer small creek rod too Surfnfish…..

I devirginized shortly today with 30 bluegills and 5 trout. All but one trout on an emerger. Just a blast watching the bluegills smacking the dry! Some bonus trout mixed in with them….bent the rod better!

Ah, Steve, make a great looking one piece bamboo rod, add a classic Hardy reel, proceed to catch lots of fish adding karma to combo, what could be better?!

That’s pretty short for a heavier line rod…..any specific reason for one? It could be done….but I don’t know how much fun it would be to cast…..

Well it sure was a FUN day today!! Tom and I fished for bluegill with dries and small foam poppers…..way nicer weather than Tuesday! Nothing but sun and a light breeze…..hardly anybody else fishing. We started around noon until 8:45….I C&R’d 89 bluegills, one trout, one bass, one crappie and one yellow perch for a royal slam! 95% on shorty and the popper on a 5’ 3 wt one piece fiberglass rod.

just curious....could be fun for bigger fish. Thinking short to reduced that swing weight that some of the longer glass/bamboo rods can feel like they have.

Yeah, I don't know either...

I'm pretty used to my shorter glass heavyweights though...

Yesterday I C&R’d 16 bluegills, 1 trout, 2 crappie and 6 bass for a slam on a different local lake on poppers with super shorty. Today I C&R’d 68 bluegills, 2 trout and kept 2 big crappies for dinner tomorrow, all on shorty with foam poppers!
