Summer 2024 Smoke/Wildfire Thread

Fires and heat in the N. Umpqua basin aren't as bad this year as last... so far. We had that one heat wave followed by a thunderstorm that started numerous fires up around dmd and lemolo lakes. Smoke started rolling in from the East and I thought, ".. here we go". But that's been it so far. Not that those fires aren't serious, we're just not feeling the effects down here in the lower N. Umpqua area... yet.

No big fires near me yet, but on the dry side of the state they're seeing serious smoke. On the west side of the cascades we've just gotten enough to make for pretty sunrises and sunsets. I know it's not going to last, it's been quite hot and dry this month, and idiots are still up in the woods.
I was driving along a river a couple weeks ago and saw a little smoke coming from the tall grass where I'd pulled over. I got out and found a still burning cigarette in the grass. F-ing people!
